STORRS, Conn. - Sophomore guard Crystal Dangerfield scored a career-high 24 points and was 9-16 from the floor, including 6-7 from beyond the three-point arc, to lead the No. 1/1 University of Connecticut women’s basketball team past No. 10/9 Stanford on Sunday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio. The contest was held at Nationwide Arena, the site of the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Final Four and was part of the Countdown to Columbus event.
Dangerfield ran the point for the top-ranked Huskies and dished-out three assists without committing a single turnover and also recorded four steals and chased down six rebounds. Her six made three-point field goals also marked a career high.
UConn has now played 887 games without losing two in-a-row and has won 22-straight season openers. With the win over No. 10 Stanford, UConn improves to 58-11 against teams ranked in the top-10 of the Associated Press poll since the start of the 2008-09 season.
