STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team was selected as the No. 1 seed in the Albany Region of the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship, as announced by the NCAA Monday.
The Huskies (32-0) will face No. 16-seeded St. Francis at Gampel Pavilion on Saturday at 11 a.m. The contest will be televised on ESPN2.
UConn will also play host to No. 8 Miami and No. 9 Quinnipiac. Those two teams will square-off against each other on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The winners of Saturday’s games will advance to the second round game, which will take place on Monday. The game time will be determined following the first round games.

The winner of the second round game will advance to the NCAA Regional Semifinal, which will be played at Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. on Saturday, March 24.
UConn owns the sport’s all-time winningest record in NCAA Tournament play at 113-18 (.863). The Huskies are making their 30th consecutive appearance in the tournament and have advanced to the regional semifinals in each of the last 24 seasons.
The team enters the tournament as a No. 1 seed for the 21st time in program history and the 12th consecutive season. The Huskies are 95-10 all-time as a No. 1 seed.
Head coach Geno Auriemma has led UConn to all 113 NCAA Tournament wins and is the winningest head coach in postseason play.
UConn won the American Athletic Conference’s automatic bid by winning the conference tournament championship last week.
