Huskies Fall to Drexel, 6-1, in Spring Break Opener

March 11, 2018

BRADENTON, Fla. - The UConn men's tennis team opened their spring break trip on Sunday falling to Drexel, 6-1 at IMG Academy.  The Huskies fall to 3-8 on the season.

"The guys showed some great toughness but Drexel was just too tough today," stated associate head coach Reinaldo Valor.  "We had our chances in almost all of the matches but Drexel played the big points better. John Holtmann played his best match since returning to the lineup. I’m proud of how the guys competed and especially how John was able to find another gear."

The Huskies lone point came from freshman John Michael Holtmann (Coral Gables, Fla.) who battled Bernard Tefel at No. 5 to a three-set victory.  After falling 6-2 in the first set, Holtmann answered with a 6-3 and 6-3 victory.

The Huskies will return to action on Tuesday when they take on Colgate.
