DALLAS – The UConn swimming and diving team heads to the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr- McMillion Natatorium in Dallas, Texas for The American Championships beginning on Wednesday Feb. 14. Live coverage for all four days of the event can be streamed online on the American Digital Network.
The schedule of events for Wednesday, Feb 14 starts with the diving preliminaries at 11 a.m. (CST) followed by relays at 5 p.m. (CST). Thursday, Feb 15 – Saturday, Feb 17 will follow the same schedule each day. Swimming preliminaries kick off at 10 a.m. (CST) followed by diving preliminaries at 1 p.m. (CST) and Finals begin at 6 p.m. (CST).

The Huskies return six swimmers and two divers that earned All-Conference honors in 2017, finishing in the top three of their respective event. Sophomore Will Kearsey hauled in a team-high six All-Conference including earning conference champion honors in the 100 and 200 Backstroke. Kearsey broke the school record in both events during last year’s American Championships.
Senior Emma Smith also returns as a conference champion in the 500 and 1650 Freestyle. Smith set a conference and school record in the 1650 with a time of 16:19.90.

Sophomore Eliza Manning has put together a solid season for the Huskies, leading the women’s side with 133.25 points that has included 18 wins for the Frederick, Md. native.
The Huskies look to improve on last year’s team results with the women’s team placing fifth (460 points) in the 2017 American Championships and the men’s side claiming fourth place with 634.50.
