UConn's Creel Named HEA Defensive Player of the Week

STORRS, Conn. - UConn senior goaltender Tanner Creel (Arlington Heights, Ill.) was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Huskies to a 4-2 win at No. 11 nationally ranked Northeastern last Friday night.

Creel turned away a season-high 34 shots as the Huskies extended their winning streak to six-straight with a 4-2 win over NU.  Creel has started seven-straight games and during that stretch has posted a 6-1-0 record with a 2.44 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.  He owns wins over three ranked opponents on this recent run, beating then No. 10 Providence, No. 16 Boston College and the No. 11 Huskies.

Creel and the rest of the Huskies are back on the ice at home Friday night looking to extend their winning streak when they take on No. 20 nationally ranked Boston University.
